Student Competitions

There is no PAC Student Competition planned for the immediate future. Schools will be advised when the next project will be assigned.

PAC Students Awards are a highlight of the academic year. PAC graphic design competitions have been running for decades and in 2008 the PAC student sustainable packaging design competitions were launched and included a shelf ready component. Some of our historical sponsors have included Walmart, Kraft, P&G, Unilever, SC Johnson, Nestle, Coca Cola, Heinz, JM Smucker, Tetra Pak. Students get to present in front of large packaging community audiences. Winning students are rewarded with high profile recognition and monetary rewards which often lead to career opportunities biennial trade show dedicated to the packaging industry is now part of the Canon Communication family. On behalf of our members we have secured excellent "PAC members only benefits". PAC has been retained as the show Conference Management Organization.

2016 PAC Student Competition
Just One Package Innovation Challenge

  •  This Competition was for an imaginary product. Walmart Canada asked students from 7 Ontario colleges and universities to help them with their plastic bag waste reduction initiative, designed to reduce consumer reliance on single-use bags.

  • The goal was to eliminate the need to 'bag' mid to large sized items, and to design a 'carrying' solution into the product's packaging or instore applications for handling and transportation convenience to the home.

  • The core design objectives: branding and packaging solution must appeal to consumers ; packaging solution should be environmentally friendly; packaging solution must be convenient to use; develop a flexible system that can extend to multiple product offerings; Cost is an important factor for the brand owner or retailer
